Make a presentation you can actually edit

01 · The needRoom to focus
02 · Known facts20 seats · 9–5
03 · Next stepTest one change

Your result: A five-slide story with a clear point, speaker notes and an editable first slide.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice input, invented by WRS: a school library has 20 quiet-study seats and opens Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. There is no visitor-count evidence. Propose one modest improvement.
  1. Ask your existing assistant for five slide titles: the need, known facts, one proposal, how to check it, and a next step. Give it only the practice input.
  2. Ask for one claim and at most three short bullets per slide. Keep missing evidence visibly unknown. Copy the outline into your usual presentation editor.
  3. Edit and export a single slide before making the full deck. Change a title, check the text is still editable and inspect the exported result.

Check the result

  • Do the 20 seats and opening hours survive unchanged?
  • Did the assistant invent an audience number or claim the proposal already worked?
  • Can you edit the exported slide rather than receiving a flat picture?

The catch

A polished preview can still export badly. A historical Presenton template-conversion report was closed in July 2026; it is a reason to test your own export, not evidence that the current version is broken.

What could it cost?

The WRS input and outline task are free. Presenton offers several provider paths; model, image and subscription costs depend on your chosen configuration. No current per-deck cost was independently measured.

02 · Reading, studying and keeping the original nearby

Understand a difficult document in your language

Original12 minutes · 20 readingsA possible effect.
Translation check12 minutes · 20 readings“Possible” stays possible.
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: A short bilingual passage with its numbers, units and uncertainty intact.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice input, invented by WRS: The trial ran for 12 minutes and recorded 20 readings. The authors reported a possible effect. They did not test longer durations.
  1. Translate just this short passage first. Request original and translated text side by side, followed by a plain-language explanation.
  2. Ask the assistant to list every number, unit and uncertainty word before and after translation. Compare the two lists yourself.
  3. For a real PDF, start with one page you may share. Check a paragraph, a table and a formula in the output before processing the whole file.

Check the result

  • Are 12 minutes and 20 readings preserved?
  • Does “possible” remain possible?
  • Can you return to the exact original passage when a sentence sounds surprising?

The catch

Layout preservation is a separate task from translation accuracy. A local desktop interface can still send text to an external translation provider. Check the actual provider before using private documents.

What could it cost?

The practice passage needs no uploaded file. PDFMathTranslate supports several translation providers; their quota, data handling and fees differ. A local model also uses your hardware and time.

03 · A learning clip, a demo or something worth sharing

Give a short video readable bilingual captions

One small step.Un pequeño paso.00:03 → 00:06
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: Two subtitle cues with readable lines and unchanged timing.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice input, invented by WRS: 00:00:00–00:00:03: Here is the problem. 00:00:03–00:00:06: Here is one small step.
  1. Ask for two SRT cues using the supplied timings. Request the original English plus a translation into a language you can check.
  2. Read each cue at its actual speaking speed. Shorten crowded lines while preserving their meaning and proper names.
  3. For a real project, use ten seconds of a clip you may edit. Check transcription, translation, timing and the final exported video as separate steps.

Check the result

  • Do the two cues remain in order without overlapping?
  • Can you read the captions before the next cue appears?
  • Are names and technical words checked by a person?

The catch

Speech recognition, translation and final video export can fail independently. Keep the original clip and editable subtitle file so one bad stage does not force a restart.

What could it cost?

VideoCaptioner's README advertises some keyless transcription and translation options, while LLM enhancements use configured services. Regional access and quotas were not independently tested. Local processing still has compute costs.

04 · Study groups, projects and everyday organisation

Turn a conversation into a useful action list

ActionDraft the pageSam · Friday
Not yet agreedPublication dateUNKNOWN
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: A short list of decisions, owners, deadlines and unresolved points.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice transcript, invented by WRS: Sam: I can draft the page by Friday. Lee: I will check it once it is ready. Sam: We do not know the publishing date yet.
  1. Use the provided transcript so you can practise without recording anyone. Ask for separate tables for decisions and actions.
  2. Require an evidence quote beside each action. Use UNKNOWN where an owner or deadline was not actually agreed.
  3. Read the source against the table. Correct invented commitments before sharing the result with the people involved.

Check the result

  • Is Friday attached to Sam's draft, not automatically to Lee's review?
  • Is the publication date still unknown?
  • Can every task be traced to words in the transcript?

The catch

A fluent summary can invent agreement. Recording support, audio permissions, speaker features and export options also depend on the product edition and operating system.

What could it cost?

Meetily documents a local-first meeting workflow and separate Community/PRO options. Verify the features and current price for your edition; this page has not measured your device's performance or paid-plan cost.

05 · A portfolio, a reading board or a tiny personal tool

Make your first useful one-page website

My useful linksLearn · Choose · BuildOne file. Three links. Yours to change.
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: An HTML file you can open, understand and change on your own device.

Try this small version

Start here

Start with the supplied WRS link-board example: three links, a short introduction and readable cards. It has no login, API key or remote data call.
  1. Open the finished example first. Download the HTML file and open it locally in your browser.
  2. Ask your assistant to change one thing: a heading, a colour or a fourth public link. Keep the whole result in one file.
  3. Reopen the changed file. Follow every link and check it at a narrow window width before considering public hosting.

Check the result

  • Does the file work without pasting an API key?
  • Do the links reach the pages you intended?
  • Is the text readable in a phone-sized window?

The catch

A local prototype is not a deployed business. Hosting, domains, authentication, payments and handling real customer data are additional decisions.

What could it cost?

The included static example is free to download and makes no model calls. Dyad and bolt.diy can build larger apps using your selected provider; API and hosting charges are separate.

06 · Less copying, sorting and chasing

Hand AI one repetitive job with a clear finish

3 short messagesRead → Sort → CheckOne small task table
Keep visibleUnconfirmed priceUNKNOWN
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: A checked three-row task table that preserves unknowns.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice messages, invented by WRS: A: Please add a source link by Friday. B: We have not confirmed the price. C: The export failed and needs checking.
  1. Ask your assistant to turn these messages into a table: item, action, deadline, status and supporting sentence.
  2. Keep missing owners and prices UNKNOWN. Correct the table before trying to connect an inbox, calendar or other real account.
  3. If the small job is useful, define the exact input, output, human approval and stop condition for an automation. Run it on a test copy first.

Check the result

  • Does the output preserve the unconfirmed price?
  • Is “export failed” still visible rather than rewritten as finished?
  • Can the workflow stop before sending a message or changing an account?

The catch

An agent's ability to access a tool is separate from your permission for it to act. Begin with a read-only sample and approve consequential actions yourself.

What could it cost?

OpenClaw can connect assistants to familiar channels; n8n provides visual workflows and integrations. Model calls, hosting and connected products may charge separately. No zero-cost or reliable unattended run is promised.

07 · Curiosity, language practice and a little fun

Give an AI character a useful, playful role

Ready for one question?A friendly space-station guide
WRS practice illustration · invented input, not a product screenshot or measured result

Your result: A short character card and a conversation style you can test.

Try this small version

Start here

Practice role, invented by WRS: a friendly space-station guide who helps you practise a language. It asks one short question, waits for your answer and explains one correction at a time.
  1. Paste the role into an assistant you already use. Ask it to show one example exchange before starting.
  2. Try a deliberately wrong answer. Check whether the guide gives a useful correction and stays within the agreed style.
  3. Change one trait, such as humour or sentence length, and compare the resulting behaviour. Keep helpful settings in a local note.

Check the result

  • Can you understand the explanation?
  • Does the character correct mistakes rather than merely agree?
  • Are personality descriptions kept separate from claims that the system has feelings?

The catch

A convincing character is observable behaviour. It does not establish inner feelings or reliable advice. Voice, games and desktop features introduce additional setup and permissions.

What could it cost?

Airi presents a self-hosted character and voice-companion direction. Actual voice/model costs and hardware requirements depend on the setup; they have not been independently measured here.
