Reference score75,000Provisional editorial estimate of this exact contribution; its grade is assessed separately.

What changed

Zhang and colleagues described a model phonon Hall response using the geometry of phonon bands. In their two-dimensional lattice model, band touchings and changes of topological band numbers can occur as an effective field varies.

Scientific scope

Zhang and colleagues described a model phonon Hall response using the geometry of phonon bands. In their two-dimensional lattice model, band touchings and changes of topological band numbers can occur as an effective field varies. This is a theoretical lattice model, not a demonstration of a transition in a physical material. Its authors distinguish integer band Chern numbers from the phonon Hall conductivity, which is not generally quantized. A later transport treatment discusses energy-magnetization corrections; its authors are not authors of the 2010 paper.
