What changed
Oppenheimer and Snyder construct an explicit pressureless spherical gravitational-collapse model matched to an exterior Schwarzschild geometry, distinguishing finite comoving time from asymptotic external-clock behavior.
Scientific scope
Oppenheimer and Snyder construct an explicit pressureless spherical gravitational-collapse model matched to an exterior Schwarzschild geometry, distinguishing finite comoving time from asymptotic external-clock behavior. The analytic collapse model is spherical, pressureless and uses a specified interior/exterior matching and initial-data subclass. Rotation, radiation and pressure are omitted. Diverging Schwarzschild coordinate time does not mean infall physically stops or takes infinite comoving time. The paper’s broader singularity assertions are not adopted as a general theorem; later causal/singularity results remain separate.
