Lagrange: an analytical framework for mechanics

Contribution grade

Analytical mechanics · Analytical mechanics

Reference score450,000Provisional editorial estimate of this exact contribution; its grade is assessed separately.

What changed

A common analytical organization formulates constrained mechanical problems with independent variables and kinetic-energy variations instead of bespoke geometric constructions.

Scientific scope

A common analytical organization formulates constrained mechanical problems with independent variables and kinetic-energy variations instead of bespoke geometric constructions. The target is the 1788 first edition's analytical organization in the selected French original. The complete book and its formulas have not been independently proof-audited. Earlier mechanical principles and their authors retain credit. This does not assert a universal treatment of nonholonomic constraints or closed-form solutions to all mechanical systems.

Evidence

Source-linked, scoped account of the original work. The published scope states the scientific assumptions and remaining verification limits. WRS has not independently certified the full proof, experimental result or system benchmark.
