What changed
Kochen and Specker constructed a finite three-dimensional quantum-observable structure that cannot receive noncontextual values preserving functional relations for compatible measurements, while exhibiting a contrasting two-dimensional classical model.
Scientific scope
Kochen and Specker constructed a finite three-dimensional quantum-observable structure that cannot receive noncontextual values preserving functional relations for compatible measurements, while exhibiting a contrasting two-dimensional classical model. The obstruction concerns assigning noncontextual values to the specified quantum observables while preserving their functional relations, in the relevant dimension. It is not a ban on every hidden-variable theory or a proof about arbitrary classical information. Contextual models, lower-dimensional cases and later finite constructions retain separate treatment.
