What changed

Two independent experiments reported low-temperature second-order electrical responses in even-layer antiferromagnetic MnBi2Te4 whose signs reverse with prepared antiferromagnetic order. Gao and colleagues engineered black-phosphorus interfaces and supported a predominantly nonlinear Hall response through symmetry, conductivity scaling and frequency-mixing controls. Wang and colleagues measured transverse and longitudinal nonlinear responses in four- and six-layer devices, including current-direction-dependent DC resistance. Their models attribute major contributions to energy-weighted quantum-metric geometry.

Scientific scope

Two independent experiments reported low-temperature second-order electrical responses in even-layer antiferromagnetic MnBi2Te4 whose signs reverse with prepared antiferromagnetic order. Gao and colleagues engineered black-phosphorus interfaces and supported a predominantly nonlinear Hall response through symmetry, conductivity scaling and frequency-mixing controls. Wang and colleagues measured transverse and longitudinal nonlinear responses in four- and six-layer devices, including current-direction-dependent DC resistance. Their models attribute major contributions to energy-weighted quantum-metric geometry. The two sample platforms, tensor decompositions and carrier-sign patterns are distinct. Mechanism attribution relies on symmetry, low-temperature scaling and electronic models; it is not a direct reconstruction of the entire quantum metric or a universal exclusion of disorder and artifacts. The corrected journal article and the preprint supplementary material differ; further journal supplementary material may affect the details. Microwave rectification does not establish uniquely intrinsic mechanism or usable energy-conversion efficiency. No room-temperature, terahertz, lossless-current or device-deployment claim is established.
