What changed
Gao, Jafferis and Wall described a theoretical model in which an interaction coupling two boundaries of an eternal BTZ black hole changes the quantum stress tensor and makes the corresponding bridge traversable in that model.
Scientific scope
Gao, Jafferis and Wall described a theoretical model in which an interaction coupling two boundaries of an eternal BTZ black hole changes the quantum stress tensor and makes the corresponding bridge traversable in that model. The calculation assumes the specified anti-de Sitter setting, quantum state and boundary coupling. It is not an observation or a method for building a wormhole, and the authors’ construction does not violate causality or demonstrate faster-than-light messaging. The 2016 first preprint predates the examined 2019 revision.
