What changed
The BESIII Collaboration measured proton–antiproton angular correlations in J/psi radiative decays producing Lambda–anti-Lambda pairs. An amplitude analysis separated spin-singlet contributions from backgrounds, and the corrected angular distribution agreed with the singlet-state model. Selected decay geometries supported a Bell-like comparison for massive particles; the authors reported a 5.2-sigma Clauser–Horne-type comparison under their reconstruction and statistical assumptions.
Scientific scope
The BESIII Collaboration measured proton–antiproton angular correlations in J/psi radiative decays producing Lambda–anti-Lambda pairs. An amplitude analysis separated spin-singlet contributions from backgrounds, and the corrected angular distribution agreed with the singlet-state model. Selected decay geometries supported a Bell-like comparison for massive particles; the authors reported a 5.2-sigma Clauser–Horne-type comparison under their reconstruction and statistical assumptions. The decay directions are passive spin analyzers. Detection and freedom-of-choice loopholes remain open, and the reconstructed comparison uses amplitude modeling, background subtraction, acceptance corrections and normalization. The supplementary CHSH significance comes from model-generated pseudoexperiments. Numerical and notation discrepancies in the reported significance conversion and selection uncertainties require clarification. The angular-correlation inference depends on modelling and does not close all loopholes or exclude all local hidden-variable models.
