Coincidence measurements reveal entanglement in photon orbital-angular-momentum modes

Mair, Vaziri, Weihs and Zeilinger measured coincidences between pairs of photons whose spatial modes carry orbital angular momentum. Measurements in selected modes and superpositions supported entanglement in this spatial degree of freedom, extending the set of optical states available for quantum-information experiments.

What is recorded here?

Mair, Vaziri, Weihs and Zeilinger measured coincidences between pairs of photons whose spatial modes carry orbital angular momentum. Measurements in selected modes and superpositions supported entanglement in this spatial degree of freedom, extending the set of optical states available for quantum-information experiments.

Source-linked catalogue note. A detailed explanatory guide has not yet been prepared for this entry.

Scientific scope

The measurements cover a finite number of selected analyzer settings; orbital-angular-momentum correlations alone do not establish entanglement. Analyzer assumptions matter, and the work did not experimentally demonstrate an infinite-dimensional entangled state. The later author revision is another version of the same study.
