What is recorded here?
Using spectra of 48,640 quasars from BOSS DR9, the analysis measured the three-dimensional correlation of Lyman-alpha forest transmission at mean absorber redshift about 2.3 and identified a peak near the expected baryon acoustic scale. This extended the acoustic-distance method to an intergalactic absorption tracer at high redshift.

Scientific scope
This v1 analysis estimates 3.0 or 4.2 sigma for two continuum methods under a specified fit, and reports strong dependence on fitting range; the 15 mock spectra do not reproduce all data characteristics. Its distance constraints are relative to a fiducial sound horizon, while precise H(z), deceleration and dark-energy statements use additional data and cosmological assumptions. A subsequent analysis uses the same DR9 sample and is not an independent new survey.
