Trace the optogenetics Nobel story through one precisely scoped claim

Build a short source map explaining how the Nobel account connects a light-responsive channel discovery with optical control of neural activity. Choose one historical claim, record the exact source and a page, section or metadata locator, and distinguish the 2026 award date from the original publication. Explain whether the inspected source supports observation, an intervention, or a claimed clinical benefit. Preserve the full author list of the chosen paper separately from the laureates.

A useful result: One accessible English claim map with separate award and paper dates, precise source identifiers and locators, a checked conceptual distinction between observation and intervention, accurate attribution, and one bounded next step. A source map is its own contribution and does not inherit the credit for inventing the research tool.

Reading and concept checking only. Use the linked public institutional reports and original publication metadata; if full text cannot be accessed, state that limit. Do not design or perform a biological experiment, recommend a treatment, infer a universal brain function, or claim independent experimental reproduction. Submit an incomplete source map with the exact unresolved question if necessary.
