When to try Doubao (豆包)

Try it for Chinese everyday questions, speaking instead of typing, a picture-based question, or a first draft. Start with a small, checkable task before using a long automated workflow.

Try one small task first Open the official product ↗

Is it a fit for you?

Try an everyday Chinese question, a voice interaction or a small draft.

A task you can try today

Start small. Keep the useful result.

Everyday task: organise a game-night plan from your own public rules, budget and guest count. Ask for a short schedule and a shopping table, keeping missing prices unknown. Recalculate the total and check any game facts against their official page. If you need slides, approve the outline before using AI PPT and inspect the export. Save the draft before requesting another version.

Suggested practice, not a newly observed product trial. Use public or non-sensitive inputs.

The trade-off

Paid capacity does not verify facts. The new shopping inspection is a dated channel observation, not a promise of the lowest price. Check quantities and the final basket. Current official help describes model 2.1 Pro, shared advanced usage, and five-hour and seven-day limits; free capacity remains task-dependent.

Is free enough? When would I pay?

Ordinary quick chat, search and writing have free entry. Try a small task first; advanced tools have daily trial limits. Standard is CNY68/month on recurring billing, not the separate CNY80 one-off month or CNY688 annual payment. Pay for recurring advanced work that is already useful. Standard does not buy extra video generation beyond its daily trial; check whether you actually need a higher tier.

What you can try

Access and cost

Use doubao.com or the official Chinese app. This guide covers 豆包, not the separate overseas Doubao-family product or third-party sites using its name. Regional availability, account eligibility and your checkout apply.

Free entry · Free entry

Official listing: ordinary chat, search, writing and file questions have free entry; advanced actions have limited free use.

Pro Standard · recurring monthly · CNY68/month

China recurring monthly listing. Annual CNY688 is upfront; a one-off month is CNY80. Advanced actions share usage and rolling limits. Standard video generation remains limited to daily free trials; extra paid video capacity requires a higher tier.

Enhanced · recurring monthly · CNY200/month

Official China listing; larger allowance. The highest advertised tier is CNY500/month. Paid advanced functions share usage and rolling limits; no guaranteed number of finished projects.

Make the choice with your own task

The 23 October shopping inspection found dated channel-specific offers, not guaranteed savings. Verify the basket and seller. Current membership help describes model 2.1 Pro and shared advanced usage, with five-hour and seven-day limits. The game complaint is version-unknown; no latest general pass rate or fixed free count is established.

  1. Open an account and plan you are authorized to use. Look for the feature needed by your task.
  2. Copy the public example brief, or substitute a small piece of your own non-sensitive work.
  3. Inspect the output. Record the corrections, any quota encountered, and the price actually shown to you.
  4. Try an alternative only when there is a concrete unmet need. Keep the useful output and checking method.
